What we do

We help people find a local provider for mold inspection and for non-emergency mold removal and remediation. We publish plain, factual pages about each service and each city we cover. We explain the steps, the cost factors, and the questions to ask. Then we pass a request to a provider in your area.

We do not diagnose a home from a web page. We do not set prices. We do not schedule work on a provider behalf. We do not claim a provider is the best in a city. The choice is yours.

What we do not do

We do not perform inspections. We do not perform remediation. We do not employ technicians. We do not own trucks, tools, or labs. We do not publish reviews, ratings, or testimonials. We do not invent team members, years in business, or job stories. If a page does not state a fact, do not assume it.

We also do not cover emergency work on this site. Active flooding, sewage, and structural damage need a local emergency response first. Once the emergency is handled, a mold referral may still help.

How a referral works, step by step

  1. You describe the problem. Note the room, the size, and any water source.
  2. We match that request to a provider that offers the service in your area.
  3. The provider contacts you. It should explain the visit, the scope, and the price.
  4. You decide whether to hire that provider. You may ask for a second opinion.

A referral is not a booking. It is not a quote. It is not a guarantee that a provider will accept the job. A provider may decline a job that is outside its scope or area.

Money and disclosure

The service is free to you. A provider may pay us for a referral. That is the business model, and we state it on every page, in the header area and in the footer. A paid referral is not an endorsement. It does not mean the provider is licensed in your area. It does not mean the price is fair.

Ask every provider for a written scope before work starts. The scope should list the rooms, the materials to be removed or cleaned, the drying method, the containment plan if any, and the price. Ask what happens if mold is found beyond the first estimate. Ask how the moisture source will be fixed.

How to choose a provider

Use these checks with any provider, including one we refer.

If a provider pressures you to sign at once, or will not put the scope in writing, pause. Get another opinion. A clear provider welcomes questions.

Our content standard

We aim for useful pages that stand on their own. City pages use local facts with public sources. We do not swap one city name for another. We do not publish a city page without local facts that are specific to that city. We keep health claims within reputable sources, such as the EPA and the CDC. We do not promise health outcomes.

If you spot an error on a page, tell us through the contact page. Include the page name and the fact you question. We will check the source and correct the page.

Common questions

Q

Is MoldNear a contractor?

No. MoldNear is a free referral service. We do not employ technicians, and we do not perform inspections or remediation. We connect you with an independent local provider. That provider is responsible for its own licensing, pricing, and work, and for the quality of the job.

Q

How does MoldNear make money?

A provider may pay us for a referral. That payment does not change the fact that the referral service is free to you. It also does not mean we endorse that provider. Compare providers, ask for a written scope, and check local licensing rules before you hire anyone.

Q

Do you check provider licenses?

We do not claim to verify every provider license, and you should not rely on us for that check. Licensing rules vary by state and city, and some places have no mold-specific license. Ask the provider directly for its license status, insurance, and references, and confirm details with the local office.

Q

What if I am unhappy with a provider?

Contact the provider first, because it performed the work and set the price. Keep your written scope, photos, and messages. If the issue is about this website or a referral, use the contact page. We cannot fix work we did not perform, but we can review how a referral was handled.
